Q: How frequent are sessions, and how long is each one?

A: It is up to the tutor and the student’s parent to arrange a regular schedule. We recommend keeping sessions once a week for about 45 minutes to an hour. But this may change due to each parties’ availability of time.


Q: What happens if I need to withdraw from the program (student)?

A: Tell us one week before your last session so we can inform your tutor of your withdrawal.


Q: What happens if I need to withdraw from the program (tutor)?

A: Tell us one week before your last session so we can inform your student of your departure and search for a new tutor to aid them.


Q: Is this service free?

A: Yes, all services provided are free of charge.


Q: What subjects does PeerGuide help with?

A: We teach grades K-9 in the core subjects of math, ELA, science, and social studies.


Q: What is the minimum age requirement to become a PeerGuide tutor?

A: We take tutors who are current 9th graders or older (including college students); some exceptions may apply.


Q: What exact services does PeerGuide provide?

A: For the most part, we provide homework assistance and explanation of academic concepts. We do not assign more homework as some tutoring academies may do, but we may give practice problems if needed.


Q: Are there any requirements for tutors?

A: All of our tutors should be highly motivated students who academically excel and want to help others. We also require a 3.0 cumulative high school or college GPA for all of our tutors.


Q: How long should we wait for our tutor/student to show up for a session?

A: Please give at least 15 minutes for the other party to join/start the meeting. After this, communicate via email or phone to reschedule the meeting.
